This is something I’ve been thinking recently: I like the whole idea of welcoming the new year. It’s like it’s a guest. Welcome, 2012! We are so glad you could make it! Please make yourself comfortable and let us know if you need anything! We hope you have an enjoyable stay!
This is something I just remembered: when I was in kindergarten, one day during recess I was wandering around the playground, doing my own thing, when this kid came up to me and said, “I know what you’re doing.” And I remember feeling A RUSH OF TERROR because I thought something along the lines of, “Oh my god! This kid knows that I am acting out a story in which I am a lion searching for happiness!” I was really embarrassed about it and went, “You do?” And he said, “Yeah. You’re talking to yourself.” And I was SO RELIEVED and was like, “Oh, yeah. Yep. That’s what I’m doing. That’s all.” “It’s okay,” he said. “I do that too.” I felt like I’d gotten away with something.
